I'm ready to purchase one of the following mobile antennas for my scanner (must use trunk or magnet mount):
Maxrad MAXSCAN1000 Radiall/Larsen Tri-Band Antenex Tri-Band Valor Mini (though the cable is quite short and cheap) MFJ Dual Band 1924B
What's your set-up and why?

Well for now I have a radio shack mag mount antenna, and a threw a the glass scanner antenna, both work great. In a few months I am going to get the Nil-Jon Super-M mobile scanner antenna. I hear GREAT things about it. I did see someone in my area using one also. They had nothing bad to say about the antenna. Sells for $79.95 which is a little high but you pay for what you get. I paid that much for a K-40 and a Wilson 1000 c.b.antenna back when I was into that.

Thats what I used to use... Standard 'coathanger' in an NMO mount. Worked pretty good and barely visible.

This is all I need here. would you happen to know of the manufacture that makes that one? I've been looking for one like that . I'm planning on getting a new vehicle in the spring and don't want to use the Mag. mount one on the new vehicle.

That is the stye of one i was looking for, however i seen that it is for frequencies above 806MHz. Most of the stations in my area are in the 33.00MHz up to 470.00MHz with only 1 or 2 800MHz frequencies. Not sure if that would make a big deal or not.

I might have one or two of those mount's left, the antennas I would get from antennex. Let me know if you want one and if you do I'll start digging thru my garage.

Thanks Beach Bum, but i do have an old mount like that somewhere burried in my mounds of stuff although it doesn't have an antenna on it. I may go with a small mag mount antenna once i get another vehicle. I will be going from a compact car to a SUV so i will have to rig up mounts for mobile radios and antennas when the time comes

I also used that same one on my SUV, it was mounted on the front fender close to the cowl.
