Annual Severe Weather Exercise Each year during the month of March, the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency, in conjunction with the National Weather Service, sponsors a Weather Emergency Preparedness Week. This year, March 12-18, 2006 is designated Weather Emergency Preparedness Week for Pennsylvania. On March 16, 2006 a statewide exercise will be conducted to test the plans and preparedness of all counties, schools, hospitals, nursing homes, day care centers and other facilities to appropriately respond to emergency, life-threatening situations that can be caused by severe weather events. This exercise will be followed by a statewide test of the Emergency Alert System at 10:10 a.m. March 17, 2006. You are encouraged to contact the emergency management coordinator of your county without delay and report your desire to participate in this exercise. This is also the perfect time to ensure your contact information is current in the event of an actual emergency. If you have any questions regarding this exercise or any emergency preparedness matter, you should contact your county emergency management coordinator.
