i may as well let my age be known also, yes i remember the crystals used in scanners year back. i remember my bearcat 3 with the 8 red channel lights flashing as it scanned. later on i bought the bearcat 4 when it came out. wow, 16 channels to listen to then. had a small box filled with crystals. i took the frequency off the crystals & made a list of what was on each crystal. the hobby has come a long way. gil

I believe the first programmable scanner was a Tenneck I'm not sure on the name, I had one I bought it in 1975.
The way you had to program it was by zeros & ones, it was a real pain to program. I had it for 3 yrs then sold it to Exeter police officer, I wish I still had it.

I came across a SUPER DEAL today ! My good friend Jim O. who is a inactive member of our site. Gave me for free a 10 channel Regency crystal scanner. It has a priority channel. It is in MINT SHAPE! Not one mark on it. Looks like it just came out of the box. A few af the crystals are still used, today. But now I have to find some place that sells them.
