My BC92XLT handheld which i use as a mobile unit in my vehicle has not been working properly the last few months and today it seemed to stop all together. The last few months It would not recieve anything in the 160MHz band. I would scan all the weather freqs and nothing. I have a weather radio transmitter here in Blair Co and it would not pick it up. Today it would scan through all my programmed freqs and nothing would be received. I had another handheld with me and it was receiving loud and clear. I have tried all my antennas including hooking it up to the beam and no signals received. I did a complete "clear" and re-programmed and still the same nothing. Not sure what the problem may be. It is only 3 years old and wasn't used that much. I thought about contacting uniden about it and perhaps sending it to them to be fixed, however that may cost more cash than what it is worth.

Only thing that comes to mind is a broken connection to antenna jack. Can you trace it from jack to PC board for any loose or broken connections? Uniden has like new for $80. That would be like getting yours repaired, but more likely the radios on their site were returned for restock or minor issues. I was a reliability Engineer for a semiconductor company. The radios that are "repaired" are more desirable because the early failures were fixed instead of waiting to happen on a new one. If interested, don't wait too long. These units tend to come and go very quickly. www.unidendirect.com/itemlist.cfm?cattype=prd&catid=3&filter=Handheld

Thats what i was thinking might be the problem. I will have to take a look and see if i can find any broken or loose wires.
